People often wonder what the worst foods to eat are. So without further ado, let us take a look at this list of the ten worst foods to eat. Mind you, these are in no particular order, and what makes them bad should be obvious!
Processed Chicken Pot Pie: Yeah, it’s got veggies, meat, and bread, but these things are full of calories and saturated fats. It’s no wonder that they are no good for you. Try making your own from scratch, or just eating the items together that you have made yourself. You have much more control over the nutrition this way!
Breaded Chicken Strips: Ah yes, the breaded chicken strip or patty is a staple in many homes, as a quick, good meal for us. Well, turns out that adding all that breading adds all kinds of fat and calories that no one needs. This is even more so the case if you fry them! So, if you want a breaded chicken strip, use whole wheat bread, seasonings with no sodium added, and a egg (or even better, one of the eggs for people with high cholesterol) bread them yourself, and bake them!
Cheesecake: Many of you probably hated to see this one the list, but we all know its full of sugars and calories we don’t need. If you are dying for it, try a diabetic version of it. It’s much better for you.
Ice Cream: Full of fat, calories, and sugar that none of us need. There is little to no nutritional value in this stuff. Try a frozen yogurt, that you make yourself, by literally freezing some of your yogurt. You know it’s good for you then!
Coffee Drinks: Full of sugar, fat, calories, and another kicker, caffeine, these drinks are so bad for you that they will cause you to crash. Replace coffee with a decaf tea that has natural antioxidants, and warm it up if you must. If you need the boost that caffeine gives you, work out for a bit. It will release endorphins that will ultimately give you more energy than the caffeine ever could.
Fast Food Burgers: We all knew this would be on the list. What can you do to avoid it when you have a craving? Make veggie burgers, serve them with fresh veggies, and on whole wheat buns. Trade the French fries for sweet potato fries, and viola!
Restaurant Pasta, Chicken, and Veggie Combos: This has just got to healthy, right? Wrong. Opt for a fresh salad with dressing on the side, so you control the calories you eat.
Burritos: Often worse than a burger, you should make these yourself so you can control it. Use fat free beans, whole wheat tortillas, and rice… and chicken instead of red meat. Often portion size is a killer, so make yours small.
Condensed Soups: Packed full of sodium and nutrients you don’t need, make your own soups with fresh ingredients and freeze them, or opt for the low salt versions which are made with sea salt.
I am willing to bet that some of your favorite foods have made this list. If that’s the case, I am sorry! We all know and love these sweet things, but it is time that we find healthier alternatives for them. No amount of ice cream or cheesecake is worth a few years of your life, is it? So, go through your cabinets, and get rid of the bad stuff!
